Brilliant!!!

As a professional cook and Pastry Chef, the drop scale with app for my iPad and iPhone is hands down the best, most versatile scale I have ever used in my career! Totally indispensable, easy to use, compact and goes with me everywhere. Love, love, LOVE my drop scale (all apps included :))!

Its perfect for the experienced cook, like me, and for the novice, like my husband. Results are always consistent, thanks to the easy to follow directions, tips and photos.

:)

Awesome! So Im having a bake sale with my friends and we are definitely using these.

User friendly, Great interface, Small selection

This is a great product (Drop Scale) and the corresponding recipe app is fantastic. It has a very user-friendly layout and great overall design. The only catch so far is the small number of recipes (Roughly 320 in total). This number may seem high but keep in mind it covers everything from desserts, cocktails, apps, and main courses (breakfast, lunch and dinner).

Drop scale

From the first time I used it, it was a great product. So much so, that I bought one for my son and one for my daughter. Great products make life easier and this one does that beautifully.

Love Drop!

The device is easy to use, clean and simple on a counter. I like the fact that it doesnt look like a scale. I am in my "70s" and my grandchildren think this makes me so "cool"! It is just fun!

We cant wait to use Drop!

This is a beautiful, well designed and wonderfully useful app for all kinds of baking and cooking. Designed especially to compliment the Drop connected kitchen scale (available at the developers web site and at the Apple Store) youll be whipping up exciting meals and desserts in no time! Features like a timer connected to your phone let you monitor your food while on other tasks, smart scaling and substitutions to make the most of the ingredients you have on hand, and one bowl recipe prep with hands-free progression (with the scale) will make your meals shine! )

Mixed feelings

I pre-ordered Drop months ago, finally got my scale. The scale is simple, and works, but has no display. You must use it with an iPad. No iPhone compatibility, though it is in the works. Someday. The recipe app is pretty, like Pinterest, but lacks any organizational abilities at all. Have some favorites? Remember their names, because youll need to search to find them again. Some you dont like and dont want to see? Cant block those out. Cant organize recipes into your own categories, cant export or print them either, no way to share. Its a good first attempt at an application, but needs a lot more useful features. At this point I am better off with a $10 digital scale and any $5 cookbook app. I hope the Drop team has a lot more in store for buyers, or mine will end up in the cabinet of unused kitchen gadgets.

Good concept...bad execution

I agree 100% with a previous reviewer who said it lacks organization. Going through the recipes I was overwhelmed and hated not being able to remove ones I knew I would never use or organize them by dish type. I pre-ordered this product and was excited to receive it, but it has been in the cabinet since I took it out of the box. Im not interested in a lot of the recipes and would prefer to have the ability to import recipes and use it with those, rather than just the ones that are on the app. I hope this is a feature in an upcoming release, otherwise it will, as the other reviewer said, become an unused kitchen gadget.

Great for learning to bake

Gorgeous photos and mouthwatering recipes. Great for anyone learning to bake.

Needs Work

There should be a way to view recipe ingredients without going through the steps while making the recipe. As it is now, the ingredients are greyed out so you have to strain your eyes to see what it is in order to see if you have enough of the ingredient before you begin..like any other recipe! Need more recipes, and need a way to upload your own. Neat concept though.

Improvements are needed

I bought Drop because I needed a new scale. The scale works well, but the app could be improved. I agree with other comments about needing organization and the ability to add your own recipes. Also, the recipes that are there need a QA review and a review by an experienced baker. The recipe I tried uses an absurd amount of bowls and tools, and they don’t actually match the up front images. So far, I think I would have been just as happy with a separate, cheaper digital scale and a different recipe app.

Great scale and concept but the app needs a lot of work

Really do love the scale and the overall concept. I can understand how much it takes to get a product out the door from concept to shelves but the app is essentially in beta stage. The scale works as advertised and is really well designed outside of the on/off function is a little hit or miss. They did a great job with the overall product. I concur with other reviewers concerning the lack of organization with the recipes. Its essentially a bunch of recipes thrown together. You cant favorite a recipe or remove one, along with not being able to upload one. One of the biggest disappointments is the fact that one of the selling points was the ability to scale recipes with the ingredients that you have. That feature isnt even live yet in the app, yet they advertise like it is. I would say thats pretty much false advertising. Overall I like the potential Drop has but need to see many improvements in the app. Once that happens I will update my review.

No custom recipes

Its a great concept, and the scale works perfectly. But theres still no way to add your own recipes. We bake and cook every meal and yet we use the $100 scale almost exclusively for weighing coffee in the mornings. If I knew you couldnt add your own I wouldnt have purchased it. If you wont allow people to add their own with a $100 accessory, you better have thousands of recipes. Which it does not.
